Before maps were drawn and the routes between villages were marked with stones, there were people who knew where to go without being told.
They would wake one morning and walk. Not because they had been sent. Because something in their chest was pointing. They followed the pointing across mountains, across rivers, sometimes across countries they had no name for. When they arrived, they understood what they had come for. They brought it back. The village ate. The village survived another winter.
They were not the priests. The priests had books.
They were the ones who knew without books.
Then the books were written. Then the books were enforced. Then the ones who knew without books were called heretics, troublemakers, lunatics. Some learned to keep quiet. Some died for the knowing. Most, over many lifetimes, forgot they had ever known anything at all.
Now they are alive again, walking around in bodies that have read too much and trusted too little. They are smart in ways that exhaust them. They have seen through every spiritual teaching and arrived at nothing. They are missing something they cannot name.
What they are missing is themselves.
Some of you are them.
